St. Ignatius

Returning Players & New Prospects

St. Ignatius returns two starters from last years’ SSSAA championship team. Our floor general, 6’1” point guard AJ Tshilombo along with our 6’4” combo guard Jackson Lawrence look to lead a hard working Falcon squad. Rounding out the veteran core is the high flying 6’3” grade 11 shot blocker Deng Makeer, along with our physical post players, 6’2” Jackson Fonso and 6’3” Travis Branch. The defensive minded guard combo of Gunnar White and Tyler Koiranen return for the Falcons as well. The well rounded Falcon team has an exciting freshmen crop of players to compliment the returnees

Teams Play Style

This year’s St. Ignatius Falcons have focused on out working teams on the defensive end. Players are accustomed to sharing their minutes on the floor and playing at a quick pace. Although Ontario utilized a 35 second shot clock, we feel our style of play fits Manitoba’s 24 second shot clock structure.

Goals for the Season and Last Years Achievements

St. Ignatius is the seven time defending Superior Secondary Schools Athletic Association (SSSAA) champs. Despite the loss of several key players from last year’s team, this year’s Falcon group has recognized the importance of playing as a team and is working hard to prepare for another shot at a city championship. The competition at the WIT has always helped make our team better and we are looking forward to being part of one of our favourite tournament
